1. ODYSSEUS’ CAVE – MLJET ISLAND
The story told by the people of Mljet is thousands of years old, and it begins with a man named Odysseus. Odysseus was a hero in Greek mythology, who led his men on many adventures.
One day, he set out to sea for one of his journeys, but was caught in a storm and crashed against Ogiran – a sharp rock in the Adriatic Sea.
He had to swim to land to survive. As he made his way toward land, he saw something strange: A hole opened up in front of him and he swam into it.
It was an entrance to a cave where he found shelter from the storm. Although he grieved for his beloved wife Penelope during the day, each night Calypso would bewitch him, promising him immortality if he stayed with her. He was set free only after Zeus intervened.
This is where the legend ends, and Odysseus’ cave subsequently became home to an unusual creature: A Mediterranean Monk Seal! For years it was their natural habitat – until humans started taking care of them instead!

The experience of swimming in the Blue Cave is unlike anything you’ve ever felt. Once you leave the cameras behind and dive under what seems like a very narrow entrance, you’ll find yourself in a large cave pierced with sunlight – and that’s when the magic happens.

3. BETINA CAVE
Betina cave is a pebble beach located in a cave between the picturesque Šeherezada villa and Gjivovići beach.

Hidden in the rocks and bordered by greenery, it is characterized by its unusual shape and clear sea, which will be etched in your memory forever.
This tiny secret beach is located directly in the rock and you can reach it only from the sea by boat or kayak. It’s unusual, beautiful, and tranquil.
